Sandy Pallett, Director, Sun Lakes Community Theatre

Hopefully, you are still healthy and surviving the boredom of self-quarantine! The other day, someone asked me if there still was a community theatre in operation. So, I was thinking, maybe others are wondering that also. I am writing this article to put that rumor to rest.

While we know that audience members want to see live theater in a socially-responsible way, and you are waiting for the appropriate time to do so, we at Sun Lakes Community Theatre (SLCT) are still preparing for future shows. Currently, Sandy Pallett is doing virtual rehearsals for Laughter Is the Best Medicine (three one-act comedies) through Zoom once a week, so when the audience is ready and when it is safe to do so, we will be ready for “lights, sound, and action.” Actually, we do have a plan up our sleeves to present Laughter Is the Best Medicine in the late fall using a safe, fun, and different approach (not in a theater setting). So, stay tuned as more details are developed.

In addition, thinking ahead and hoping positively that the virus will abate with a vaccine, we are still planning to produce a Spring of 2021 dinner-theater show, and our originally-planned Summer of 2020 Cottonwood stage show has been moved entirely to the Summer of 2021 on stage at Cottonwood. As we get closer to these events, specific information will be made available in future Splash articles and on our website, www.slctinfo.com.

Remember, (when we safely can) the shows must go on!
