Vicki Mendenhall and Beth Zdeblick

“It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” is the theme for the IWLN 2019 Golf Invitational. Mark March 20, 2019, on your calendars. If you are a member of a woman’s 9-hole golf league, you need to pass the news on to your group! Ironwood Lady Niners are hosting an Invitational that your club won’t want to miss. The cost is only $60 per golfer and includes green fees with a golf cart, continental breakfast, raffle prizes (beautiful gift baskets), door prizes and an awards luncheon. This will not be an ordinary day of golf! Golfers of all levels will find this unique format of golf enjoyable and challenging in a fun way! We are very proud to announce that all proceeds will be donated to Arizonans For Children, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviate hardships and improve the fragile lives of the abused, abandoned, neglected children in foster care. We are actively taking reservations and will discontinue entrance when we reach a full field of golfers or on March 10, 2019. Have your golf league contact Deb Burns/[email protected] for further information and sign-up sheets.

Ironwood ladies win State Medallion Tournament! Our very own Deb Burns and Sandy Krediet won first place in their flight playing on The Lakes Course at PebbleCreek Golf Resort Tuscany Falls in Goodyear on January 5, 2019. To qualify to play in this tournament, golfers must play four specific dates throughout the year, after which the low gross winner and the low net score winner qualify for the State Medallion Tournament. There were 22 total teams in attendance this year, and the IWLN are so proud that these two talented golfers came home winners! Congratulations doesn’t seem enough but… Congratulations, Ladies!

The IWLN Holiday Brunch, organized by Barbara Johnston (thank you, Barb!), was held on December 12. Deborah Poropat presented our 2018 Ringer Awards to many of our talented golfers. Deborah has the job of tracking the weekly scores of the golfers who are part of the Ringer group to determine the best score the golfer gets on each hole over the season. Ringer Awards for Flight 1: Barb Klemstine, Deb Burns, Sandy Krediet, Linda Liberti, Denise Weibel, Shirley Moore, Ruth Rees; Flight 2: Susan Meer, Janis Gustafson, Barb Sletto, Susan Schaeffer, Ginger Wilson, Vicki Mendenhall, Ann Gavin, Suevonne Negaard; Flight 3: Lorene Roberts, Bettie Farr, Sandy Brudvik, Kay Blas, Sally Dixon, Barb Johnston, Judy Thompson; Flight 4: Toni Flanagan, Barbara Frank, Rhonda Stanford, Mary Swanson, Donna Cook, Sue Werner, Judy Frink. Nice playing, Ladies!
