Nancy Davis, Publicity
It is with a very heavy heart that I report the passing of current member Janiece Wallin. Janiece has been an active member with the IWLN since 2007. She had a love of the game of golf and really enjoyed playing with our Ironwood Lady Niners League. To Janiece’s family, we extend our sincerest condolences.
2014 IWLN Summer Hottie! During our summer play from mid May through September, the Ironwood Lady Niners take a break from more serious golf and prizes. We kick back and enjoy casual play where you can sign up your own pairings and choose your own game or play to develop your game. Of course, this is during our sultry summer when we play at 6:30 a.m. There were 16 weeks designated this year (only 15 were played due to the monsoon) and we have been naming the member who plays the most days during this time our IWLN Summer Hottie. Our 2014 Summer Hottie is our President Jeanine Krause who played 14 of the 15 weeks. Jeanine is a very dedicated golfer, plays every chance she gets, and in 2012 she was our Most Improved Player. We salute her love for the game, her dedication to play and her physical fitness in playing through our sultry hot summer heat. Jeanine was presented with a certificate to give her bragging rights plus a little something to put into her wallet.
Member/Guest Day: Wednesday, November 12 was our Member/Guest Day. A big welcome was extended to the 27 guests who joined us for a round. They were Rosalie Bowen, Jo Brooks, Sandy Brudvik, Barbara Frank, Judy Frink, Kathleen Gould, Karen Groth, Wende Hettinger, Luann Hulbert, Jan Karp, Karen Kenyon, Connie Lowsch, Darla McCracker, Linda Murray, Christine Nelem, Diana O’Neill, Patty Partridge, Marlene Paschke, Deborah Poropat, Dianne Sereva, Carol Smith, Joyce Stefanick, Diane Swanson, Georgian Talerico, Jill Thorton, Susan Uhrich and Diana Woodward. Following golf, the ladies gathered in the Ironwood Clubhouse for refreshments and social time. We hope they all enjoyed their day with us and will join our league. Many thanks to our members who organized the event: Catherine Tinerino-Moore, Denise Fleshner, Judy Thompson, Barb Pezzute, Jo Anne Gaudioso and Alice Baldwin.
Mark your calendars: Our next general meeting and brunch is at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10. Please plan to attend. The “Changing of the Guard” will take place as we install our officers for 2015 and present awards. December meetings are always fun and a great way to end the year and prepare for the new!
It is time to renew our membership for 2015. Annual dues for the Ironwood Lady Niners payable by December 15, 2014 are $65. Checks should be made out to Ironwood Lady Niners. Your check and membership application form should be placed in the Lady Niners drop box which is located in the Ironwood Clubhouse Computer Room. We also offer a social membership for $10. This membership is available to former and current members who can no longer play golf on our regular game schedule. There are dates identified on our calendar that will accommodate their play. Most important, they are welcome to attend all of our general meetings, brunches and special events. We hope that all IWLN members rejoin and we look forward to a great year of golf in 2015.
New this year: We are offering a “GHIN No. Only for Women.” The cost this year is $40 (which includes the AWGA Fee plus a $10 processing fee).
New members: We are extending a very warm welcome to new members Judy Frink, Luann Hulbert, Marlys McFarland, Marlene Paschke and Lois Welker. Thank you ladies for choosing to golf with our Ironwood Ladies Niners. If you would like information about our fabulous league, please contact Membership Chair Susan Schaeffer at 802-9852. Our play day is Wednesday with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun.
Giving thanks: We are now in our wonderful holiday season and we want to take time to give thanks for our great Lady Niner League and the wonderful friendships we have developed. The Executive Board, our Standing Committees and many other members put in countless hours to make our organization so successful and so much fun. We also thank Eddy Renio, Kevin Marugame, Ray Paiva and the Ironwood Pro Shop Staff for their professionalism and generosity in providing our ladies with a wonderful golf experience throughout the year. This year we give special thanks to our President Jeanine Krause; Vice President Susan Meer; Director of Golf Eddy Renio; and Golf Professional Kevin Marugame for providing our league with a mid-day shotgun at 11:30 a.m. The golf staff makes golf great at IronOaks.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and safe travel to all! Just think, the New Year brings a bounty of new golfing experiences.
