It is time to renew your MOGA membership

Wayne Karp, MOGA Publicity Chair

It’s time to renew your MOGA membership! This year, new and renewing members of MOGA have the ability to pay their membership online using a credit card. Members can log in to their profile page on the AGA website (after November 3) at www.azgolf.org and click on the “Renew” button. More detailed information will be emailed to members in early November and will also be available on the MOGA website. Our membership fee remains the same as last year, but if you renew online before December 15, the fee is $120 verses $125 for full membership and $60 verses $65 for handicap only membership. Membership is open to both residents and non-residents of IronOaks. Membership fees must be paid by December 15 in order to be eligible for January MOGA events.

Note: New members who join in November or December will have active membership for 14 months through December 31, 2019.

2018 Robson Challenge will be held at SaddleBrooke Ranch on November 14. MOGA and IMGA are sending a combined team. Fifteen golfers divided in three handicap groups (0-10, 11-19 and 20+) plus our Pro will compete against other Robson communities. MOGA members have already been solicited to join the team.

Volunteers Needed: It’s that time again where we ask our members to step up and volunteer to help in the upcoming 2018/2019 season to lighten the workload for our committees and officers. As the saying goes, “It takes a village,” and because of our great volunteers, the organization runs smoothly, but without our volunteers, there is no organization.

We are looking for people to fill the following positions: awards, publicity and vice president. If you have a few hours each month to help make our organization function, please contact Doug Braun at 480-215-0970 or [email protected] or Dan Bogaard at 641-780-2666 or [email protected].

Golf Expo: Reserve the date of November 7 for the annual Golf Expo at Oakwood practice range. The event is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Representatives from the top club manufacturers in golf will be on hand with the newest line of equipment from their respective companies. There will be bags, shoes and clothing on sale, as well as local golf car companies showcasing their newest models from Club Car and E-Z-Go. Several vendors will be on hand to show you some of the best golf car cleaning products and accessories. Stop by the MOGA station and get information about the upcoming season.

Are you new to the area or just looking for a great way to spend time on the course and meet some new friends? You don’t have to be a resident of IronOaks to join our group. We have over 350 members with golfers at every level. MOGA has an event each Thursday throughout the year. Why not join MOGA and meet some new friends while playing a variety of team and individual games each week. Membership application and more information is available on our website at www.mogagolf.org.

Congratulations to Bob Strong who got a hole-in-one during MOGA play on September 20. The feat was accomplished on the 8th hole of the Sonoran course using a 5 iron. “I thought it was a good shot, but none of our foursome saw it land. When we got to the green, it was nowhere to be found, so I checked in the cup and there it was,” said Bob.

New Golf Rules: New changes to the rules of golf are coming in 2019. Some golf organizations are implementing the changes in the Fall of 2018 rather than waiting for 2019. Some of the new rules are optional and were discussed by the MOGA Board at the October meeting. For more information about the rule changes, please go to the link on our website. It is shown at the bottom of the schedule.
