“Have you called Judee at 480-802-0201 after 10:00 a.m. to register for Ultra Basics class?” Repeating this quote from last month is a test to see if the results will be the same. Many new dancers did call and started Line Dancing and we had a great time. Yes, call after 10:00 a.m. but please call by the Sunday before the Monday you will be attending.
Are you too late to register now? No. This is a continuous activity in SunBird in the ballroom starting at noon for $2. The class Ultra Basics is for starting dancers. With the new format, dances will get more difficult as the afternoon progresses. A new dancer’s goal should be to successfully accomplish the Ultra Basics class in order to be successful in the next class. Ultra Basics is a prerequisite for the next classes. Will everyone be at the same rate of progression? No. Did we all learn the ABC’s, bridge, tennis, golf, etc. at the same rate? I don’t think so.
Repeating the first line of this article reminded me of Line Dancing where we repeat the same steps and patterns in different places in different dances. Because I teach steps and patterns for the dances we do, Line Dancing does get easier. I also teach a free Monthly Steps and Patterns Class to the dancers attending my classes.
Dancers need to be able to hear to listen to directions and able to learn and retain directions. By doing this, dancers will be able to dance the dances taught without following. I’ve used this method of teaching Line Dancing for 16 years and because it is so successful, I will continue this method. I would lose the dancers who have followed my method if I would change. “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.”
It was exciting to greet the returning dancers also. They are such a nice group plus being an interactive group which creates a lot of laughs AKA having a lot of fun while learning!
Dancing with your feet is one thing. Dancing with your heart is another. Proudly, while having fun, we do both!
