Members are looking forward to Kim Rosenlof speaking at the Nov. 17 monthly meeting. Kim is a Master Gardener and Immediate Past President of the Tempe Garden Club. Kim spoke to the club about “Seed Harvesting” via Zoom in the spring, and members are looking forward to meeting her in person, with social distancing and masks.

Her topic is “Beneficial Insects” and natural methods for controlling pests without the use of chemical insecticides. She also has knowledge about growing artichokes and manzanita trees, and members will be able to ask questions about other topics.

The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets all year on the third Tuesday of the month. Members are welcome from any city and any level of gardening experience. Visitors are always welcome, and you may decide to join us. Members receive a 10-page monthly newsletter with photos of members’ gardens and activities. Check out our website, www.SunLakesGardenClub.org.

Club memberships are only $20 per year, and a spouse or second member in the household is only $10 per year. Any members joining in November are considered paid until January, 2022. We meet at the Chapel Center (next door to the Sun Lakes All Faiths Community Church, and across the street from the Sun Lakes Country Club) 9230 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.

Due to social distancing, we’ll be taking touchless temperatures, wearing masks, and spacing the chairs around the room.

Socializing, greeting visitors, and review of raffle items begins at 9:30 a.m. We take our seats at 10 a.m. for the meeting until 11:45 a.m. An optional lunch gathering is planned each month after the meeting to a nearby restaurant.
