The Officers of MOGA, the Pro Shop personnel and all the staff that support MOGA wish you the Blessings of a healthy and prosperous New Year.

The second annual IronOaks Ryder Cup was played on November 15 at Ironwood (IMGA) and on the 17th at Oakwood (MOGA). On the 15th it was a Best Ball event and on the 17th it was a Scramble. Both events were Match Play. On November 15 the MOGA team amassed 17.5 points against IMGA’s 13.5. On November 17 MOGA added an additional 18 points against IMGAs 13 to win the event. The Ryder Cup Trophy was awarded to MOGA’s team leader (TJ Jones) for the second year following refreshments and friendly bragging after the game.

The Member/Member Tournament will be held on Thursday, January 19. It will be a two man shamble event. Depending on the number of players, the start time is variable: (over 128, using three courses, start at 11:00 a.m. or later.) Cost is $10 per player. If you don’t have a partner, a single player registration form is located on the MOGA bulletin board in the Pro Shop.

Aki Yasuda and his associates are working on the 2017 schedule. The schedule will include all special events: President’s Cup, Club Championship, Home and Home with Cottonwood, Palo Verde and Sun Lakes, the IronOaks Ryder Cup, Ironwood Wealth Management and Beat the Pro. Based on membership input, the schedule is being modified to reflect the membership’s desires.

Hopefully, we won’t have too many frost delays between now and the warmer days; however, if you want to check for delays before play, call 895-1159, ext. six for the recording.

On the third Thursday of each month coffee and doughnuts are available before the MOGA morning play and refreshments are available after the afternoon play in the Clubhouse.

Please remember there are no “Gimmie’s” in MOGA. You must putt your ball into the cup; no exceptions. A foursome cannot change that rule.

You are invited to join the Adopt a Hole program! It’s free; you have time to talk to yourself, enjoy the fresh air, practice filling in divots; and it makes you feel good. It also helps to make the courses look good.
