Glo Malmberg, Publicity

It is very quiet in October as our courses are closed for over-seeding. However, OLGA-18 begins its golf season on November 4 with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun. Players will meet after the round at pool side for Happy Hour and the election of officers. We will play the short course which is played from 200 yards on par 5’s, 150 yards on par 4’s and regular yardage on par 3’s. It is cart-path only until October 16, so bring out your most comfortable walking shoes; unless, of course, you can place each shot near the cart path. OLGA-18 application fee for 2015 is $85, payable by December 15.

We look forward to having the full contingency of golfers back as there have been very few players over the summer months. Speaking of summer months, one of our members, Eleanor Hinerichsen, got married in Iowa this summer. Upon her return we had a little get-together to celebrate her wedding. Barbara DeNapoli had an idea to collect money and make El a money tree. We all thought it was a terrific idea. However, Barbara herself wasn’t quite sure after tying bows around money until her fingers bled (well maybe not quite bleeding, but darn sore). Everyone brought snacks and the tree was a big hit. Congratulations to Eleanor and her new husband, Jim Mildenberg.

This year’s Golf Expo will be held on Wednesday, October 29 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Most major golf club vendors will be represented, along with golf accessories and shoe vendors. Be sure to check it out – lots of great deals on just about everything golf.

For 11 years, Betty Wolfmeyer has done a wonderful job tallying birdies, Eagles and holes-in-one for OLGA. Thank you Betty. OLGA thanks Lois Coomans for volunteering to take over the reins from Betty. Barbara DeNapoli got the only hole-in-one in the second trimester. There were no Eagles, but several birdies. In Flight 1, Glo Malmberg had 11 birdies; Shirley Weaver, Flight 2, had seven; in Flight 3, Pat Schepp had seven and in Flight 4, Carol Jones had three.
