Republican Club October meeting

The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature “Election 2018 Ballot Issues” with Scot Mussi, President of The Arizona Free Enterprise Club, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Arizona Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. The public is invited.

Ballot initiatives often change the tax and regulatory environment of our state with unintended negative consequences that cannot be “fixed” by our elected representatives in the state legislature. This is due to changes made to our Arizona Constitution by an earlier ballot proposition. Therefore, it is very important for Arizona citizens to be well-informed and carefully consider all propositions on our November ballot prior to voting. As an example, just one of these initiatives will drastically increase energy costs and costs for small businesses. The result? Higher prices for the things we need and thousands of lost jobs.

We will host several speakers who will inform and educate us on these important ballot propositions. Our keynote speaker is Scot Mussi, President of the Arizona Free Enterprise Club, a non-profit organization formed in 2005. Mussi joined the Free Enterprise Club in 2013 and was named president a year later.

Congressman Andy Biggs stated, “When it comes to protecting taxpayers and taking on entrenched special interests, there isn’t a more effective organization at the legislature than the Free Enterprise Club.” For over a decade, the Arizona Free Enterprise Club has been the only organization in the state dedicated to advancing pro-growth, limited government policies in Arizona. Through active lobbying and advocacy at the state capitol, their mission of promoting economic freedom and a vibrant Arizona economy has led to several policy victories, including substantial income tax cuts, regulatory rollback to promote entrepreneurial growth and protection of property rights and free speech. Additionally, the club is the leader among free market organizations in realizing that substantial policy gains require taking on the establishment and supporting free market outsiders.

Prior to joining the Free Enterprise Club, Scot Mussi worked for the Home Builders Association of Central Arizona and founded Reliant Consulting, a political consulting firm. Scot is an Arizona native and graduated from Arizona State University in 2004.

Our members and guests will also meet and hear from Republican candidates running for state and local offices, including J.D. Mesnard for State Senate, Jeff Weninger and Nora Ellen for State Representative.

Please plan to join us for this very informative meeting and bring your Sun Lakes neighbors! For more information, visit our website at www.slgop.org, or contact Mike Tennant at 480-802-0178.
