Our first meeting was held October 16 and we welcomed back many of our members and several guests. We are all working diligently on our Patch quilt. Each member has been asked to complete six shards which are 3 inch by 3 inch gourd pieces and will be connected to complete a beautiful hanging quilt. They consist of the talents of our artists who use woodburning, carving and painting with acrylics or alcohol stain. Some have added embellishment and clay. We will share our completed project in the Splash when completed.

We welcome anyone who is interested in anything to do with gourd art to join Spirit of the Desert Gourd Patch. We meet every month on the third Thursday at the Sun Lakes Country Club Arts and Craft Room from 4:00-6:00 p.m. To find out more information call Vicki McKenna at 480-802-1632 or Shirley Nesbitt at 480-247-6102.
