At press time, the State Farm Insurance team, managed by Larry Kaufmann, held a four-game lead in our winter league standings with two weeks to play. They had posted a sparkling 12-2 record at that point. Our top five batters, based upon a minimum of 90 at bats during the fall and winter seasons, were Larry Kaufmann at .806 (which helps explain why his team was in first place!) followed by Steve Hilby (.758), Bill Corso (.750), Chuck Myrick (.737) and Tom Kasunic (.736). You can check current standings and batting averages by going to the Stats Page on our website at www.sunlakessoftball.com.

We also have a recreational program that takes place on Monday and Saturday mornings. These are informal get-togethers and include batting practice and pick-up games. Start times are currently at 9:00 a.m. See our website for more information.

Association members and former players are invited to our annual banquet and program on Monday evening, March 21. Tickets need to be purchased by March 10. Go to our website or contact Larry Wolfe at 480-802-2748 for more information.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of long time Association member Sam Miller. Our condolences go out to his wife, Eleanor, and his family and friends. RIP, Sam.
