Are you still fired up to walk?

Sue Schwartz

This is Sue again, checking in to see how your walking is going. By now I hope you’ve had the chance to walk one or two times and can easily fit it into your daily walking routine.

You do have a daily walk, don’t you? If you don’t, it’s okay. I understand, I really do. Our time is limited and often there are too many to-do’s on our list and not enough time.

But, physical activity is one of the best things we can do for ourselves to improve and maintain our health. So why do we often push it to the bottom of our to-do lists?

I talk about enjoying exercise. When you enjoy doing something, you look for more ways to do it instead of avoiding it. This is how we can stay motivated to exercise – make exercise something you enjoy doing!

Here’s another motivational tip – join the I Love Walking group any Monday, Wednesday or Friday at the Palo Verde Country Club. We walk between 8:00-9:00 a.m. meeting in the Palo Verde lounge. We break our walking into small chunks of time throughout the hour. This allows for hydration and socialization breaks instead of taking the all or nothing approach. Ideally, you are walking 30-60 minutes per day to maximize the health benefits of walking.

Don’t have that much time in your day? It’s okay! Don’t make the decision to not exercise at all, just join us and walk the length of time your calendar permits.
