Steve Smitham and Susan Baze, in their first tournament together, made it all the way to the championship match before ultimately losing and taking the silver medal.

Sheila Parkinson and Dianne Zimmerman, in their first 4.5 Women’s Doubles together, won gold at the Arizona Senior Olympics. In a hard fought match, Sheila and Dianne were victorious against the No. 1 seeded team winning in three sets to send them to the loser’s bracket. In the gold medal matchup, Sheila and Dianne again faced the No. 1 seed and dominated the first game. They then came from down 6-9 in the second game to win a thrilling 12-10 overtime game completing the upset and securing the gold medal.
