Put together Nutrition and Education and you have something pretty special. That is what we have in January’s Rotarian of the Month; Grace Wilson-Woods who utilizes her skills to the upmost. She began her education with BS degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago; MHS Governors State University at Park Forest, Illinois.
Grace held many jobs as a Community Nutritionist, Maricopa County Department of Public Health Office of Nutrition services; Nutrition Consultant, University of Chicago Cancer Research Center. Meantime, she had two daughters. Now any kid who has a mother who is an advocate of proper diet and good, sound nutrition is getting off to a great start. Toss in a true love of education, and you have a winning combination. Fortunately, Grace has three grandchildren and one new great-granddaughter, just four months old living in the area.
Grace was active in civic affairs such as the American Heart Association, Chicago Historical Society, docent at AA Faith Partnership. She said it is hard sometimes to say “no” but continues to serve on the board of Neighbors Who Care. Grace became a member of Sun Lakes Rotary on April 16, 2014. Service Above Self is her motto. She is very active in the Sun Lakes Rotary Dictionary Project. Can’t help but notice the sparkle in her eyes and smile on her face when she announces the Teacher of the Month. She has done an outstanding job in helping to select the Educator of the Month and Teacher of the Year.
She is a very special lady and the Sun Lakes Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Month.
