Sun Lakes VFW Auxiliary wants you, but not only for service! We make friends! We have lots of fun! Our VFW Post 8053 held its annual golf tournament on Friday, April 21, at the Sun Lakes Country Club golf course and Mulligan’s restaurant/pro-shop. Chaired by Terry and Judy Cox, the event was a joint effort of the VFW and VFW Auxiliary. The day began at 7:00 a.m. in Mulligan’s with donuts, juice, coffee and the selling of raffle tickets to win a high-quality putter, a high-quality driver and a 50/50 drawing. Tee-off was at 9:00 a.m. with 24 four-person teams made up of both men and lady players. Play finished about noon, and players returned to Mulligan’s for a delicious lunch of fried chicken, slaw, potato salad, rolls and gourmet cookies; much good fun was had by all.

After lunch, drawings were held for the driver, putter and the 50/50, as well as for many door prizes.

Winning Teams – First Place: Lyle Becker, Greg Carter, Ken Marshall and Ray Smith; Second Place (tie): Bob Green, Phillip Lyons, Dan Helgert and Kenneth Woolever and Roger Rodeberg, Bill Fellinger, Sammi Fellinger and Paul Larochelle.

Ken Marshall of the first-place team was the “hero of the tournament” for making a hole-in-one and for hosting a round of drinks for everyone.
