Kings & Queens Senior Mixed Bowling League is gearing up for another exciting season at Brunswick Kyrene Lanes. The 2017/2018 season was, indeed, one to remember in several ways. One of our lady bowlers, Doreen Crickon, bowled a 300 game to the cheers of the entire league. That was a day we will never forget. A couple weeks later, Doreen bowled a 299 game. Doreen and her husband Bill, who is also an excellent bowler, were new members of the league last season. Can’t wait to see what that duo has in store for us in the 2018/2019 season!
Our preseason league meeting will be held at Kyrene Lanes on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. in the café. If you are 50 or over, you should come see what this league is all about. Kings & Queens is a USBC-sanctioned league consisting of four-person teams. Members are not required to be residents of Sun Lakes. The first week of competition begins Wednesday, October 3, 2018, for 27 weeks. All skill levels are encouraged to join this popular, fun league. Our annual meeting will be September 17 at 1:00 p.m. at McRay Lanes. We will be reviewing the new season and discussing the league rules, bowling fees and other important items. After the meeting, there will be three free games, so remember to bring your bowling ball!
The first day of bowling will start Monday, September 24, at 1:00 p.m. at McRay Lanes. Practice bowling will begin at 12:45 p.m. The season will end Monday, April 4, 2019, with a No Tap Sweeper. We will not be bowling on December 24, 2018, and December 31, 2018.

Hits and Misses

Hits & Misses Bowling League is preparing for the fall season. We are looking for more bowlers to join us starting October 1. You are invited to come play and enjoy the fun with many other Sun Lakes bowlers. We bowl Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. with warm-up bowling beginning at 10:15 a.m. Bowling location is Brunswick Zone Kyrene Lanes in Kyrene Village at 6225 W. Chandler Blvd. Brand new teams are selected each year and are made up of four members, mixed men and women. This is a non-sanctioned league.

Plan to attend the Bowling League meeting on September 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Brunswick Lanes. President Hal Newton will present the league rules and regulations, answer questions and discuss items concerning bowling fees, annual year-end banquet, etc. You will also find out who your new teammates will be for the next season. New teams are formed each year determined by members’ bowling averages in order to give each team an equal start. The meeting is usually followed by free practice bowling.
Regulation bowling, “the new season,” begins on Monday, October 1, and runs through mid-April with a break at the Christmas holiday. Even if you haven’t bowled for a while, you are welcome back to bowl with us. Whether you’re new to the area, single or a couple, casual bowler or a serious player, think about joining this bowling league for fun, to meet your neighbors and make new friendships.
