Unity: resolve to evolve

Kay Davis

At Unity Church of Sun Lakes, we choose to live a healthy lifestyle filled with affirmative prayer, meditation, love and gratitude. We follow the teachings of Jesus as well as other wise spiritual masters. Rev. Debbie Brown Adams is our spiritual leader. Join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. as we celebrate together in the Arts and Crafts Room of Sun Lakes Country Club. Fellowship follows the service.

Are your new year’s resolutions the same this year as they were last year? It would appear that new year’s resolutions do not work. Norman Bouchard, New Thought author of 29 Questions for the Ordinary Life, suggests that instead of making resolutions that are mostly negative, such as “I want to lose weight, stop smoking, start exercising,” that we ask questions instead. As we go about our busy everyday lives, we seldom realize they are filled with meaning and lessons learned. Asking questions about the past year and the future causes one to move beyond the surface of life and who we are called to be. The right questions are always moving us toward self-expansion, service and reaching out to others. One might ask, “How can I serve the higher good?” or “How can I show gratitude in my life?” This new year, let’s resolve to evolve.
