2 Your Health: Chiropractor Goes from Worst to First

I’ve spent my career helping people get out of pain—neck, back, disc problems are my wheelhouse. But for years, one condition made me dread Monday mornings: shoulder pain. If patients had graded me on shoulders, I’d have been last in the class. Today, it’s my favorite condition to treat. Here’s how that happened.

I’m very good at what chiropractors are classically trained to do. Cervical and lumbar spine care—adjustments, mobilizations, soft-tissue work—I’ve refined over 26 years of practice. Shoulder pain is a different animal. It’s the most mobile joint in the body, and that complexity means it can fail in dozens of ways. Standard techniques helped some cases, but I kept running into patients who plateaued. They’d move on to cortisone shots, MRIs, sometimes surgery, and I’d wonder if I could have done more.

That nagging feeling pushed me to find something better. About a year ago, I invested in a Shockwave Therapy machine. The results stopped me in my tracks. Patients stuck for months reported dramatic improvements—often within three to five sessions. People who were told they needed surgery were canceling those consultations. Shoulders that hadn’t reached overhead in years were swinging freely again. Worst to first. It happened that fast.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

Shockwave Therapy (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, or ESWT) uses high-energy acoustic sound waves delivered through a handheld device pressed against the skin. No needles, no surgery, no downtime. The sound waves:

1. Stimulate healing—triggering a controlled micro-inflammatory response that draws fresh blood flow, growth factors, and stem cells into damaged tissue that had stopped healing on its own.

2. Break the pain cycle—desensitizing the nerve fibers behind chronic pain signals, often providing relief from the first session.

3. Rebuild collagen—accelerating production of new, organized collagen fibers that restore strength and flexibility to worn-out tendons.

A typical course is eight to 12 sessions, about fifteen minutes each. Most patients describe a deep tapping or pressure—intense but tolerable, with no recovery period needed.

If you’ve been struggling with shoulder pain, I’d love to talk. I’m offering a complimentary consultation—no pressure, just an honest conversation about whether this technology can help you. Give Abundant Health Chiropractic a call at 480-802-0797.
