Sunday, April 3 is the date for Sun Lakes Rotary’s 23rd annual Charity Golf Tournament. It will be held at the Oakwood Country Club golf course in Sun Lakes. The shotgun start will be at 12:30 p.m. with a dinner in the Oakwood Ballroom to follow.
This is Sun Lakes Rotary’s major fundraiser of the year with 100 percent of the net proceeds benefiting an amazing number of local charities, including CHOICES, a program for high school freshmen to keep them in school; Dictionary Project, giving dictionaries to every third grader in the greater Chandler area; RYLA, sending high school students to Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in Heber; scholarships for deserving students in the Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley, as well as Hamilton and Chandler High Schools; scholarships for Hamilton and Chandler High School students to attend the World Affairs Seminar in Wisconsin; Chandler/Hamilton Infant Daycare, mentoring young mothers to continue studying hard and graduating from high school; PolioPlus,® project to eradicate polio worldwide; Neighbors Who Care, their mission is the comfort of home and the dignity of independence for elderly citizens; about 500 community volunteers help the elderly live at home; Gift of Life–Arizona, providing medical intervention for children worldwide suffering from congenital heart defects with the Phoenix medical community providing facilities and personnel; A World In Motion® (AWIM) Program, SAE International’s program is a teacher-administered, industry volunteer-assisted program that brings science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education to life in the classroom for students in kindergarten through Grade 12; F1 in Schools Challenge, introduces middle and high school aged students to the engineering process; from business planning, design, manufacturing, analyzing, and marketing to racing, students participate in a true hands and minds-on activity.
