First things first! We want to wish us all a very happy and healthy 2016! We also want to express our gratitude to Jim Davis for writing this column the past two years; Jim has now taken on the role of Secretary of this association under our new President Butch Reber. Thank you Jim!
The January report begins with the January 14 and 16 Home and Home contest with Sun Lakes Country Club. Two teams tied for the win with net scores of 201! The teams were Fred Hill, Cliff Joyes, Dan Helgert and Jim Davis and Ron Crabtree, Marv Selby, Budd Livingstone and Norm Mark. Congratulations to all!
The afternoon event was a Three Net Best Ball and was won by Dick Martin, Jack Hall, Duane Enzminger and Charlie Silvertson with a score of 168 (not bad)!
On January 23, the Select-a-Drive event was won by Ben Caviness, Art Bennett, Jeff Martin and Tom Burns with a score of 88.
A Two Net Best Ball contest on January 30 saw seven players on a very crowded podium: Tony Sims, Robert Macfarlane, Erv Jacob, Dick Howell, Tony Huffman, Bill Lewis and Bob Kruse.
The Palo Verde President’s Cup was held over two Saturdays, January 23 and 30. The champion, with a net score of 111, was Gerald Brock. The runner-up, one stroke back, was Irwin Fleischer. Additional Flight winners were Tony Hames and Neal Robbins.
The PVMGA Fun Day charity event planned for February 6 was postponed and will be rescheduled.
