Bob Armstrong, Publicity
October play was shortened because of the reseeding process. Once again, we have lush green fairways which many of us protect by playing our second (and often third) shots from the sidelines.
The 2017-2018 season is now well underway as we work off the extra pounds garnered from the amazing foods presented by the Palo Verde kitchen and serving staff at the Celebration of Golf and Thanksgiving dinners. We now look forward to the traditions and repasts of Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year’s!
Following are the results of the first events of the new season:
On Saturday, October 28, a “Beat the Pros/Presidents” event was won by almost all of the entrants. Enough said … but they did have fun!
On Saturday, November 4, a 1 Gross Best Ball + 1 Net Best Ball event was won by Terry Denefe, Mike Rufert, Richard Griffis and Buster Crook. Our congratulations!
Upcoming events include:
December 2 – a.m.: 2 Man Alternate shot (flighted) contest to be followed that evening by the annual Christmas Dinner Dance!
December 9 – a.m.: 2 Man Scramble (flighted); p.m.: 2 Best Ball Net (P)
December 16 – a.m.: Ace of Aces Final (T) (P); p.m.: 1 Best Ball Net (P)
We are pleased to report that Bob Keltz has recently agreed to reassume the duties of chairman of the major events committee. This position is one of the more demanding roles in the PVMGA, and Bob’s expertise is much appreciated.
Now is the time to consider joining the Palo Verde Men’s Golf Association! We welcome your inquiries and invite you to drop by our Pro Shop or call 480-895-0300 for information. v
