On Thursday, November 9, Sun Lakes Table Tennis members gathered for the yearly meeting held in the Oakwood Country Club Dance Studio, the setting for weekly ping pong play. President Richard Nadler called the meeting to order and reviewed items on his agenda. The principal topic was electing officers for the coming year. Member June Wagner was elected. Of note, she is the second woman in the 20+ years of SLTC existence to hold this post and follows in her late husband’s steps as president. Richard Nadler, outgoing vice president, has accepted the vice presidency, and Alan Behr, treasurer.

Membership in this club averages 40 members who are ranked by ability. Most members agree that the highlight of club activities revolves around two yearly tournaments vying for the coveted trophy: Will it stay in Sun Lakes or return to Saddlebrooke Resort Community or The Ahwatukee Senior Center?

Events always conclude with refreshments and camaraderie. Sun Lakes Table Tennis Club has both trophies in current possession. SLTC members compete yearly in the Arizona Senior Olympics and come home with medals in all categories. Membership yearly dues are minimal, and new members are made to feel welcome regardless of their level of play.
