If you’re new to Sun Lakes, new to golf – either or both – or you just do not have time for an 18-hole round, the Sun Lakes Lady Niner Golf Association is for you! Also referred to as the “Niners,” we play nine holes of golf as a group every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m., except for January and February when we play at 10.00 a.m.
The “Niners” have a general meeting followed by a scramble the second Tuesday of every month during the playing season. We also offer social memberships for those who just want to join us for lunches, dinners or special events and do not want to participate in golf.
Eligibility: The Sun Lakes “Niners” Golf Association welcomes and provides encouragement, support and camaraderie to all women golfers, both new and experienced. Both residents of Sun Lakes and non-residents alike are eligible to join the club. The only requirement is that we ask new golfers to be somewhat familiar with golf, to have played previously or to have taken lessons in the past.
How much will it cost? Annual dues are $35.00. This fee entitles you to all the privileges of membership and includes the handbook, annual Arizona Golf Association dues and participation in the AWGA computer handicap system. We pay $2.00 each week to play in addition to the green fees. The dues for a social membership are $5.00 per year.
We Make It Easy for You! We have fun playing golf and want you to also! We’ll assign you a “Big Sister” to help you through your first year. She will see that you are properly introduced to all policies and procedures and will be there for you if you have any questions, as will all other members. Membership forms are available in the Sun Lakes Pro Shop.
Don’t Have a Handicap? Every member establishes an AWGA Handicap. This allows you to compete with golfers of all skill levels on an equal basis. New golfers must play five rounds of 9 holes of golf in order to receive an AWGA handicap.
We hope you will join us to hit a ball and have a ball!
