The Fun Lakers Club held its annual meeting on January 5 for our new and current members and Trivia Night on January 19. Each event included a range of fun games and definitely required some strategic problem-solving trivia skills. Our club continues to grow, now becoming the largest social club in the Sun Lakes area. With that in mind, we now offer 10 or more events/activities each month for club members and guests. It’s a perfect time to get in on the fun. Membership and event information may be found on our website at www.funlakers.org. Fun Lakers Club members will always have first priority in making reservations for these events.
Our season-long, Sun Lakes Dance Party, sponsored by the Fun Lakers Club, will continue through the spring. Future dance party dates include February 21, March 21 and April 11. All dances this year are located in the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. The cost at the door is $12.00 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. A dance lesson begins at 6:30 p.m., and dancing will be from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. There will be a “singles” table and “new members” table for interested guests.
On February 23, FLC is bringing back a popular event from the past, the Golf Cart Rally. The event will challenge your powers of deduction with clues along the route. The route will wind 5.5 miles through Cottonwood and Palo Verde, with five stops for various games of skill and chance. The final game will be played at Sisk Park where scores will be tallied. Rally participants will then meet at the Palo Verde patio at 5:00 p.m. for sharing event highlights, and a cash bar will be available. Our dinner menu will include cheeseburgers, fries and dessert at 6:00 p.m., followed by prize awards. All club members have already received their event/registration information. Nonmembers may check out the FLC website for further details. The cost is $20.00 for members and $25.00 for nonmembers.
The annual Progressive Dinner, our “members-only” evening, is scheduled for March 16. Member hosts will open their homes for appetizers or dinner for groups of 16 and 8, respectively. All food and drinks will be provided for the hosts’ homes by FLC. This year, our theme is French cuisine. The evening will conclude with dessert and dancing at the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. You won’t want to miss this event! Members will be receiving information by email, so watch your inbox and mark your calendar for this event. Members interested in volunteering to serve as hosts for either appetizers or dinner may contact Jackie or Don Morgan at [email protected].
The Fun Lakers Club is all about creating and fostering new and lasting friendships and, of course, Having Fun! If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you, maybe this is the right time to give it a try.
