Sun Lakes Community Theatre (SLCT) is presenting Laughter Is the Best Medicine, three hilarious one-act plays about people in a sunny, southwest senior community: Naked Man on the Couch, Hot Pursuit, and Mother’s Day, behind Oakwood Country Club, outside on the grass at the wedding venue. Precautions are being taken: theater-goers will be sitting in a safe environment with chairs spaced six feet apart (theater-goers are bringing their own comfortable lawn chairs); face masks are required for all our patrons, actors, and technical staff; and free extra masks are being provided for those who may need them. Show dates are Oct. 29, 30, and 31, and Nov. 1, 2, and 3 (Thursday through Tuesday).

Sun Lakes Community Theatre is a seniors organization dedicated to providing accessible and affordable live theater performances for the Sun Lakes community. Our actors, directors, technicians, and support staff plan three main stage productions each year at the Cottonwood and Oakwood ballrooms, ranging from comedies, to serious plays, to dinner-theater. We also try out unusual theatre events, like the current Laughter Is the Best Medicine, outdoors at the Oakwood Country Club. In addition, our Children’s Theatre group performs Dr. Seuss’ Horton plays in full costume in 25 Chandler elementary schools each spring (we have had to cancel this spring of 2021, due to the pandemic, but we hope to be back in the spring of 2022). You don’t have to be an actor to join, as there are many roles for our members to play to make sure “the show must go on.” If you are interested in joining our theatrical adventures, please go to our SLCT website for more information: www.slctinfo.com.
