Wow, it’s November already. The temperatures took a while to cool down, yet this may have allowed our beautiful fall colors to saturate the Arizona landscape longer, starting in Flagstaff and working its way down to Tucson. A creative grab bag full of photographic opportunities to capture, such as using macro techniques on the desert flora, computerized stitching for those panoramic landscapes, and using time lapse to record the beautiful night skies! The autumnal season never disappoints for fabulous photography.

During a member event, Lynn and other camera club photographers took a trip to Jerome in upstate Arizona during much-needed time outside. Members abided by social distancing protocols, while shooting at the once-working mine converted to a private collection of old buildings, machinery, and vehicles. I can imagine driving down the winding road from Jerome in this classic car. I kind of feel the same coming out of the past six months. Thanks, Lynn, for the trip down nostalgia lane.

Members: Welcome to SLCC 2020-21 season. The safety of our club members continues to be our first priority! As we start differently, photographic education and celebration is our main focus. The Arizona Camera Club Council (ACCC) will be holding their Fall RoundUp virtually. If you did not receive a flyer, please reach out to Lynn for more information. Please do your best to participate in the competition and support the ACCC. Mark your calendars for upcoming months events: We are planning a dinner meeting at Joe’s BBQ in Gilbert on Nov. 5, and a photoshoot in the Heritage District. They have dining available with outdoor seating. Our Nov. 19 meeting will be a virtual Zoom meeting, where we will see the winners of last year’s year-end club competition. Our Dec. 3 meeting will be a webinar with Lisa Langell, starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 7:30 p.m. More to follow later. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our photo trip to Bosque del Apache due to concerns about COVID-19. We will reschedule for December, 2021, and will precede the trip with a program on bird photography by Cindy Marple. The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) meets the first and third Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, from October through April. During the summer, the club meets the first Thursday of each month in the Ceramics Room of the Cottonwood Country Club.
