The Sun Lakes Rotary has a variety of interesting meetings each week! During the month of April, there will be two morning meetings on the 7th and 21st and one evening meeting on the 28th. Here are a couple of highlights for the upcoming month.
On April 7, Rotary District Governor David Simmer will visit the club to honor Rotarians Wayne Johnson, Dick Vogel, Gene Vogt, Walt Mills, and Howard Rudge on their 300 years of Rotary service and the changes they have seen in the last 60 years.
On April 21, 2020, six outstanding students, one from each CUSD high school, will participate in a Rotary Speech Contest. The student speaker will address how the Rotary Four-Way Test might be applied to their lives or the lives of others (and especially to their peer group) or to events of today’s world. The Four-Way Test was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy. It was originally created as a test for businesses to use when dealing with sales, advertising, and building professional relationships. It was adopted by Rotary in 1943 and has become one of the most widely printed and quoted statements in the world. It has been translated into more than 100 languages. Although it began as a guide for business, it has become a guide for not only Rotarians, but others around the globe as well as they deal with personal relationships and ethics in different areas of their lives.
April 28 is a Club Day. There will be no speaker. This is a great day to visit and hear from our Sun Lakes Rotarians about all the wonderful things that are happening in our club.
The club meets for breakfast in the Sun Lakes Oakwood Country Club ballroom every first and third Tuesday morning from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and every second and fourth Tuesday evening for light refreshments from 5:30 to 7 p.m. For visitors, your first visit is on us. To let us know you are coming, contact Jon Lyons at 602-769-7462.
