Richard Volpe
As we approach the summer months, many of our friends will be leaving us to head back to where they originally came from, while others are making plans to take advantage of the opportunities to catch up to old times with some short or extended vacations. We wish you all well and hope you all have an enjoyable time, whether it’s here or traveling the country, or possibly on a nice cruise to the places of your choice.
Although things appear to be moving in the right direction regarding the long-awaited hope that the coronavirus is well under control, we are still seeing a reduced number of cases being reported daily. Based on this, our club has made the decision that, for the safety of all, it would be in the best interest of all to put off holding our scheduled monthly meetings until the end of the summer months. Hopefully, our plans are to be able to pick things up once again in September of 2021. Details of our new scheduling at that time will be communicated to all the current club members in a timely manner. In normal times, our club meets on the third Friday of the month at 11 a.m. during the months of September through May. All Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine veterans are always welcome.
There still is a group of members who do meet for lunch weekly at the local IHOP restaurant in Chandler. All are welcome, but if interested, it is suggested that you contact Rich as a courtesy for the restaurant so that they can be prepared to provide adequate seating and staffing.
Some additional news that may be a big help to anyone reading this who may be handicapped and have difficulty moving around freely, our club has access to two Jazzy electric chairs that can be made available to someone in need. Both are in good condition and have new batteries installed. If interested, call Rich Volpe for more details at 480-802-2532.
Additionally, feel free to give Rich a call at 480-802-2532 if you have any questions regarding our club membership, and I’m sure he’ll be happy to talk to you.
