Friends of the Robson Library are happy to announce an exciting program presented free of charge in the Lecky Room, a comparison of the Southwest in the art of Ansel Adams and Georgia O’Keefe. This program, accompanied by many visuals of the artists’ work, will be February 4 following the monthly meeting of Friends of the Library and will be presented by a docent from the Phoenix Art Museum.
Ansel Adams (1902-1984) was a photographer and environmentalist whose work earned him fame over a 60-year career. Although he preferred to work in black and white, his color photographs comprise a large part of his work and range from portraits to landscapes.
Georgia O’Keefe (1887-1986) was a world-famous painter who spent much of her life working in New Mexico. She also explored the Colorado River and much of rural Utah where she immortalized many scenes of beauty.
Unusual to group a photographer and a landscape artist? Not when so much of their work focused on the American Southwest and was created during the same time period. Come discover even more about these beloved American artists.
Friends of the Library meet at 9:00 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. Most programs sponsored by the Friends follow the meeting at 10:00 a.m. and are free of charge. Coffee is provided.
