Feb. 28 was a beautiful day for golf, but what made it special for the Sun Lakes Lady Niners is that they hosted their 7th Annual Home on Home with the ladies from SunBird. A big thanks to Susan Geis who organizes this tournament on the Sun Lakes side year after year to make sure there are no wrinkles.
Fifty-seven participants played in the tournament, which is more than we have ever seen before. The tournament started out with a continental breakfast at Mulligans and ended with a lot of smiles and a luncheon in the Navajo Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club.
The winners were Joanne Jenkins, Irene Schlenker, Lavonne Mensink, Carole Kinderman, Jamie Morgan, Ellyne Gunnare, and Sheryl Anderson. Congratulations to all the winners. We would like to give a big shout-out to Rick Howell and to all the husbands who helped to make this a fun and successful event.
The Sun Lakes Lady Niners only had three days of league play in February. On Feb. 7 the game of the day was Blind Partner. The winners in first place were the team of Cheryl Kern and Dottie Wodraska, the second place team was Rose Gallagher and Ardyce Gibson, and the third place team was Sue Parmenter and Liz Tollefsen. The game on Feb. 14 was Low Net Back, and in Flight 1 Wanda Chihak took first place, Rose Gallagher took second place, and Trudy Mathison third place. In Flight 2 Paula Lovelett took first place, Sheryl Anderson took second, and Lavonne Mensink took third.
The Sun Lakes Lady Niners are always looking for new members. Please contact President Wanda Chihak at 480-559-4002 if you would like to join or to talk about joining. Please consider coming out and hitting a ball and having a ball with them.
