Keeping Our Relationships Intact When Dementia Is in the Picture

People who have friends who are experiencing some memory challenges don’t always know what to do, what to say, or how to act. Spouses also don’t know what to do or say with friends and even with family members. Sometimes it’s just easier to close the door and wish it would all just go away.

Join us to learn the significant things you can say and share without fearing you’re compromising your loved one’s dignity. We’ll outline options for friends to consider that also keep respect of privacy intact, while showing that we are here and ready and willing to stay connected and still be friends.

The presentation is on Wednesday, July 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church in the Education Center. Admission is free.

The speaker, Elaine Poker-Yount, co-chair of Dementia Friendly Sun Lakes, will offer tools for better connection and engagement, no matter what side of the relationship you are on! A free Engagement Session will be available to all care partners during the class.

RSVPs are required to [email protected]. Note: When RSVPing, list both the individuals coming to class and the names of individuals who will be in the Engagement Session.

Questions can be emailed to the same email or call Elaine at 480-203-8548.
