Ironwood Lady Niners

Bonnie Hoewing

We had another great month of golfing at Ironwood. I first want to thank San Tan Golf for their sponsorship of the closest to the pin event during our Valentine event. They were on the greens during the event offering support and then provided $25 gift certificates to the two winners. Thank you again for your support.

The Sunland Invitational in Mesa was held on Feb. 27. We had six ladies from the Ironwood Lady Niners represent our league. Barbara Frank’s foursome won third place, and Holly Toms’ foursome won second place. Great showing, ladies, for IWLN. On March 11 we had 14 IWLN members participate in the Oakwood Lady Niners 2025 Charity Invitational. It was a great event, and fun was had by all. Here again, our IWLN members represented us well. Shirley Moore and Sally Dixon were in the foursome group that won third place, Colleen Duke was in the foursome group that won second place, and one of our newest members, Gerry Weaver, was in the foursome that won first place. Great work, ladies!

As always, we have great fun every week during league play. We couldn’t let the Irish—St. Paddy’s Day—go by without enjoying some fun by dressing up to celebrate. Mulligan’s for All was the game of the day, along with great weather and lunch on the patio after play.

We welcome new members of all golf abilities to join our fun. See the Ironwood Lady Niners website at ironwoodlady9ers.azgolf.org for more information.

“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening—and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.” —Arnold Palmer
