As 2025 comes to a close, artists in the Desert Artists Club take time to reflect on the benefits of belonging to an art community here in Sun Lakes. Our club offers opportunities for artists to have a safe space for self-improvement in our art skills, and by participating, we grow in confidence in our abilities. Having feedback from club members helps us expand our understanding of artistic concepts and can give us just the encouragement we might need. We reflect on how our club has had an influence on the direction our art has taken as we learn and develop new skills or how we overcome creative blocks. Artists in our club reflect on how sharing their art and interacting with other members gives us a sense of community, not only here in Sun Lakes but in the larger community of artists throughout the world. We share common appreciations of creative expression and ideas, binding us to others with diverse talents and creativity. We appreciate and treasure the friendships we have gained along our journey.
So, for those who wish to gain skills or need inspiration, our art club provides a welcoming, fun, and encouraging place to simply enjoy the process of creating with others. We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room (A-8) in the courtyard across from the library in Cottonwood. We are a casual club without dues and regular meetings. Any resident in each of the three HOAs in Sun Lakes is eligible to join. Each artist brings their own art supplies and works in their preferred medium, some of which are acrylic, watercolor, oil, pastel, pen and ink, mixed media, to name a few. We have art instruction books to borrow, and, socially, we have occasional potlucks and Share Your Art times throughout the year. Come, stop in, and see what we are about. This art club may be just what you need to get back into or start your artistic journey.
