The Ironwood Lady Niners (IWLN) “Gilligan’s Island” invitational held on March 25, was a great success. This event would not have been possible without the hard work of the co–chairs Debra Burns, Deborah Greenwood, Denise Weibel, and Sally Dixon. There were 88 golfers from nine different golf leagues across the state. Many positive comments from a number of golf participants that day expressed how exceptionally well the invitational was organized and what great games, food (chicken skewers with rice, salad and key lime pie) and prizes (49 gorgeous gift baskets and a dozen silent auction items) were included in the event. Music was provided by Ryan Visina with a group sing–along to “Gilligan’s Island” theme song. All profits from the invitational were given to AZCEND. Our league was able to donate $4,500 to support AZCEND. We must acknowledge and thank our hole sponsors for the tournament: Becky Bell with Realty One Group, Tru Green Lawn, Chuck and Mary Medved Foundation, Kathy Riser with Young Home Team, Bond Skilled Craftsman, K&R Refrigeration, Charleen Feyereisen with Keller Williams and Stephen Phair with Edward Jones Financial.
IWLN members Denise Weibel, Deborah Greenwood and Janis Gutstafson participated in the Cottonwood member/guest day on Thursday, March 19. They were matched with Melia from Cottonwood for the event. Great day of golfing.
The SaddleBrooke Invitational was on March 31 and IWLN members Jane Steffes, Rosanna Nania, Debra Burns, Renee Touchstone and Denise Weibel represented our league at this event. The foursome group that Jane Steffes was in placed first and the foursome group that Debra Burns played in won fourth place. Congratulations to all the players on a great event.
April 15 was the IWLN annual awards luncheon. This event is held annually at the end of our golf season to share awards earned throughout the season and enjoy lunch prior to some of our members leaving for the summer season. Great attendance from our members and fun for all prior to our season of golf slowing down.
One more invitational is still available for IWLN members to participate. The Pinewood Invitational will be held on July 15. This is a great way to get away from the heat of summer and enjoy some golf. More information will be coming soon regarding registration.
