Cheers Trip Opportunities While many Cheers members traveled to visit relatives and presumably to get away from the heat, others traveled to exotic places, including Hawaii, Africa, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and California.
Some of the trips that are coming up include the following:
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, Oct. 8 to 11, Price; $1,645 pp/double, $2,095 pp/single. Free Spirit has a unique location on a bluff overlooking the field. You get to see over 500 balloons lift off in the biggest balloon festival in the country.
Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, Nov. 10 to 11, Price: $585 pp/double, $660 pp./single. Another great short trip from Free Spirit Vacations.

It is advisable to begin planning holiday travel early, including events like the European River Cruises and Ocean Cruises. The companies are booking reservations for 2027 tours on venues like the Antarctic excursions, Easter Island, and the Galapagos Islands. Many Oceania and Norwegian ships accommodate single travelers. with cabins with outside views and a special lounge for singles.
Dream Cruise Adventures is offering a Classic Caribbean Cruise on Windstar Cruises from March 20 to 27, 2027 that includes gratuities, a beverage package, and $100/pp on board credit. The itinerary includes roundtrip to and from St. Maarten with stops that include St. Kitts and Nevis, Guadeloupe, Dominica, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prices start at $2,930 pp/double and $4,890 pp/single. A perfect cruise for beach lovers. At least four of our members have signed onto this cruise.
Monthly Wine Tasting. The second Wednesday of each month a club member hosts a wine tasting and potluck dinner in their home. Advance registration is required and a $10 fee per person is collected to provide funds for the purchase of a variety of wine, selected and presented by the host/hostess. Anne Brunick serves as the activity leader, supporting and assisting monthly hosts.
Title One School Donations. Cheers provides charitable support to needy students at all Title 1 schools in Chandler. Voluntary donations of food, household items, and/or cash are provided monthly. If preferred, one may write a check directly to a school of your choice, specifying which activity you wish your contribution to be credited to. These donations are coordinated by Sally Wegrn, 203-470-0733, in collaboration with Hamilton Social Work staff, and are greatly appreciated in our community.
Dine Out Dine-Out meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Members dine out together at a selected restaurant in the community. This activity, coordinated by Robert Russo, provides the opportunity to try new restaurants and perhaps new types of cuisine in the company of friends. Advance registration at the weekly Cheers social is required to confirm restaurant reservations.
Book Club. This group meets every third Tuesday at the Oakwood Clubhouse former Library. If interested in participating, contact Anna Murch, 602-502-8928.
