Speakers on a wide range of topics will be featured as the Sun Lakes Aero Club kicks off its 2026-27 season monthly gatherings beginning this fall.

The Nov. 16 presentation will feature Jessica Cox, making her third appearance at the club’s gatherings dating back to 2016. Her topic will be progress on building the “Impossible Airplane,” a custom-built aircraft designed specifically for her. Born without arms, Cox was the first armless pilot to earn a pilot’s license.

On Dec. 21, speaker will be Jocelyn Condon, vice-president of the non-profit Arizona Aviation Historical Group. She will speak about the early days of Falcon Field airport and its relationship to the Royal Air Force pilots who trained there prior to World War II.

The Jan. 18 speaker will be Commemorative Air Force docent Art Vernon who will discuss Fighter Plane Development and Evolution, with emphasis on how fighter aircraft evolved from early reconnaissance tools to decisive instruments of air superiority.

Speakers for February and March gatherings will be announced in future Splash articles.

All club gatherings are open to the public and are held in the Cottonwood Country Club lecture hall. Sessions begin with camaraderie at 6:30 p.m. followed by the presentations at 7 p.m.
