October is here! We welcome back our early arrivals to fall in Sun Lakes! Perfect golf weather is on its way and we can’t wait to get back to Niners league golf starting Nov. 5. Be sure to check the upcoming golf schedule found on our Niners website www.cottonwoodnine.azgolf.org/calendar for more details on weekly games and results.
One of the first tasks to do for returning golfers is to renew your membership for 2026–27 league play. You will find the link to register on our website noted above, via the link on the upper left menu of the portal webpage. New this year is no more paper registration—renew on AZGolf only. You will need to have your credit card and GHIN number handy when you enter the AZGolf webpages. If you aren’t certain what to look for, you can find help on our Niners website under General Information located on the top menu selections. AZGolf has increased their membership fee to $50 this year. They manage our weekly handicaps and games through the Golf Genius app. Also new this season is using the Golf Genius app on our phones for reporting scores during our games. No worries! It’s easy to use!
Our Niners board is holding our league membership fee at $45. This fee funds our weekly game payouts and goes toward the patio parties we enjoy during the season. The annual fees total for returning members will be $95 ($45 to Niners, $50 to AZGolf). For new members it will be $100 to establish your standing with AZGolf.
We are always on the lookout for Sun Lakes ladies looking for a fun and social nine hole golf league. How about joining the Cottonwood Lady Niners! We golf Thursday afternoons at the 1 p.m. shotgun start and play both fun games and play-your-own rounds of nine holes, alternating between the front and back nine of the Cottonwood golf course. We welcome golfers of all abilities and skill levels, and ladies from all communities of Sun Lakes are encouraged to check us out. After golf we enjoy social time on the patio at the restaurant, rehashing the day’s game and making new friendships. Want to try us out? We are offering interested ladies an opportunity to join us with a “test drive” one time trial day where you can play with our group for just your green fees without paying the membership and annual golf fee. Interested? Email president Renee Seifert at cwladyniners@gmail.com for more details.
This is me every round: I shot one under at golf today: one under a tree, one under a bush, and one under the water.
