Felice anno nuovo! (Happy New Year!)

The Sun Lakes Italian-American Club (SLIAC) had a festive start to the holidays on Dec. 7 with a live opera recital by members of the Arizona Opera Company. A baritone, mezzo-soprano, and pianist put on an awesome recital of Italian opera and holiday music. A raffle followed the recital. We had 118 members and guests who thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and entertainment.

Our next dinner/meeting will be on Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom, with doors opening at 5 p.m. (cash bar) and lasagna dinner at 6 p.m. The cost for dinner will be $23. An RSVP will be required. As always, we encourage advance payment by Zelle or check. If you have special needs for dinner, please let us know when you RSVP.

Our speaker at the January meeting will be Suzanne Hagberg from Free Spirit Travel Agency. She will be talking about Italy as a travel destination and also about setting up a local trip to a great Scottsdale Italian restaurant with lunch or dinner and a cooking demo. If you are a current member of SLIAC, look for your monthly newsletter and get your RSVP in early. Guests are welcome to check us out. Remember, Italians have more fun!
