The A-1 Golf Carts-sponsored team, managed by Dave Kratz, ran away with the Lakes Division Winter League title, compiling a record of 13-5. That was four games better than the second-place First Response Roofing squad, managed by Tom Erpelding. The top hitters in the division were Frank Rouse (.789), Jay Yoakum (.764), Jerry Smith (.746), Ralph Wolf (.722), and Tim Loeffler (.719). Brian Brockman led the division in long balls with six, one more than Jay Yoakum.
In the Sun Division, there was a very tight pennant race, with only three games separating the Camp Hilby winners from the fourth-place Spooner PT team. Manager Marty Hobby’s Campers finished with a 10-6 record, two games better than Manager Kim Whitney’s Wolfe & Associates Accountants. George Siegele led the division in batting average with a .789 mark. Other top hitters were Don Long (.780), Thom Stephens (.758), Kim Whitney (.749), and Dave Platt (.733). George also led the league in homers with 32, just one better than Don Long’s 31. They were followed by Barron Liebert (21), Bob Hubbard (16), and Joe DiLabio (15).
As you read this article, our Spring Season is well underway and will continue through April 11. The regular season will be followed by a double-elimination tournament beginning April 15.
