Hello Summer! It’s Bunker Time at IronOaks!
We’re fortunate to have 45 holes of outstanding golf at IronOaks. Earlier this year, our Ironwood Golf Club was named the “Top Public Short Course in America” by Golf Pass! After the completion of the sand bunker renovations last year on the Sonoran and Palms golf courses, it was time to enhance the bunkers at Ironwood. While these renovations were taking place, all bunkers were considered “Ground Under Repair”, with a free drop out of the bunker. An unconfirmed rumor was that some players were aiming for them during this time. Work has now been completed, aim for them at your own risk!
The process began with the removal of the old sand and drainage systems. Once cleared, new drainage was installed, followed by a mat liner and a fresh blend of sand—identical to the high-quality sand used on our other bunkers. The work was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. As part of our standard summer schedule, we’ll continue rotating nine-hole course closures weekly at Oakwood, and for five days early each month at Ironwood.
Poolside Café Remains Open!
Poolside Café will remain open throughout the summer with adjusted hours and staffing based on demand. Whether you’re craving a draft beer, a frosty margarita, or a refreshing mocktail—paired with several yummy food offerings—we’ve got your cravings covered. And don’t forget to treat yourself to our signature soft-serve ice cream!
JW Water Update: On June 23, Nick Myers, Chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission, spoke to our homeowners. He outlined the process the Commission takes reviewing the request of JW Water’s rate increase. We’ve also held meetings with the Presidents and GMs of CWPV and SLCC to discuss working together. By doing so, we can share legal fees rather than bearing the entire cost on our own. The potential impact to the community as a whole goes well beyond personal consumption. We have seven pools, 45 holes of golf, and a lot of irrigated common ground. On the golf courses, we recently converted several acres on the Lakes Course to xeriscape, and will look elsewhere to do so. We installed artificial turf a few years ago in some common areas, and will continue to convert more areas. We’ll be sure to keep you informed as this entire process proceeds.
IronOaks: The Ideal 55+ Community! We’re committed to maintaining and enhancing our community to ensure IronOaks remains one of the most desirable 55+ communities in the Valley, which includes continued board transparency and fiscal responsibility. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. Remember to stay cool and hydrate often!
