Our meeting on Nov. 5th was a wonderful combination of “show and tell” and final UFO completed projects, and we were thrilled to have Madonna Baker Randt, owner of Mad B’s Quilt and Sew Shop, as our guest speaker. The Spring/Summer 2022 issue of Better Homes & Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine featured 10 Top Shops from across the country, and Mad B’s was one of the 10. In the article featuring her shop, she said, “The City of Mesa has a quilt store on every corner. I am always asking what we are going to do to stand out.” Her presentation was extremely informative and touched on a variety of things, including different threads, differences between batting quality and function, and multiple fabric options. The bottom line? We need to shop at our small quilt shops—they are depending on our support!
Our final meeting of the year is our annual holiday luncheon at Palo Verde Country Club on Dec. 7. All members are encouraged to attend. The winner of the UFO Summer Challenge will be announced, and there promises to be several fun activities for us to enjoy! The first meeting of 2023 will be held on Jan. 4 at 1 p.m., in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N., in Sun Lakes.
Agavé Quilters Guild is open to new members of all skill levels. General meetings are held September through May on the first Wednesday of each month. Each meeting features a brief business update from the board members, a guest speaker, and a “show and tell” session allowing members to share their projects with the group.
For further information, please contact President Betty Bogaard at [email protected] or Dennie Sullivan, membership chair, at [email protected]. We look forward to welcoming you to our Agavé Quilt Guild, the original Sun Lakes Quilt Guild since 1995!
