We are a group of over 100 people who love sewing. Our general meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club. The business meeting starts at 1 p.m., but we invite you to come early to see what goodies are on the Stash table that need a new home.

Our November program was presented by Penny Sturgis. Penny designs and sells patterns and supplies for totes and bags on her website Quiltsillustrated.com. Penny showed us many quilted bags that are made from her patterns and kits. We were inspired by her ideas and samples and plan to set up a class after the first of the year.

One of our Special Interest groups is Children’s Charities. Patty Hutson, group leader, is looking forward to a great year with the restructuring of the Children’s Charities (formerly Dolly Dressers) to include dolls and doll clothes, along with the pillowcases, racetracks, and crayon/book totes. We have been working on those items to be given to children in crisis situations.

On behalf of Sew-N-Sews, Patty Hutson, Irene Blakely, and Eileen Turner delivered 100 pillowcases to Sgt. James McClimans, Media Relations Unit of the Chandler Police Department. Some of the pillowcases were given to their Victims Services Unit, and the others will be handed out by patrol officers. They are looking forward to receiving the racetracks and crayon/book totes that we are working on.

Our December meeting will be our holiday luncheon, which will start at noon. Reservations are required. Our next regular meeting will be Jan. 11, 2023, with a program presented by Heidi Pridemore of Whimsical Workshop.
