The Anglers are fishing and selling

Dan Hall

If you are new in town the Anglers sponsor fishing outings for kids from the some of the local schools. The upcoming derbies are on October 28, October 30 and March 7. The club furnishes all things necessary to fish. This includes tackle, bait and instruction. We are always in need of an extra hand. You do not need to be a member to work with the kids. These youngsters are in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades. They are very appreciative of this opportunity. You will be richly rewarded by their smiles and laughter when the fish are landed. Hope to see you at Lake 6 at Sun Lakes Country Club 8:30 a.m. We will be finished before noon. Both you and the kids will have a great time.

We support the activities by sponsoring a Flea Market in the SLCC parking lot on the third Saturday of the month. The official hours are 6:00-10:00 a.m. but you might find some real bargains as the vendors shut down. If you would like to have a vendor’s spot stop by the SLCC desk and signup. The fee is $5. The Anglers offerings come from donations. Don Herring is available to arrange drop off or pick up by calling 480-802-9320. Small items are great but clothes don’t do well. We also receive support from a number of local businesses and clubs. I will acknowledge them in a future article.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room SLCC at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome and like all clubs are needed. You will find putting a smile on a youngster’s face a rewarding experience.
