Anglers wind up the fall fishing

Dan Hall

The anglers finished their second fall fishing derby on November 10. This group included a school class of all international immigrant students learning English. There were 27 youngsters on a chilly morning but the fishing was very good; lots of laughter and helping each other land the fish. We receive hands on help from a number of individuals not club members. This is very much appreciated and since they return it must be fun to give a little joy to some special children. The kids’ excitement and smiles are contagious. The remaining derbies will be completed by November 23. Keep this opportunity to help the youngsters fish in mind and watch this column for the spring fishing times.

These activities are made possible by our generous donors and proceeds for the Flea Market held on the third Saturday of the month at the SLCC parking lot from 7:00-11:00 a.m.

As you know our schools are in a budget crunch. Most are no longer able to afford the cost of transporting children to the derbies so the Anglers are helping using funds from our Flea Market sales. We need things to sell at the Flea Market. You can help by looking around and finding things that make you think “why am I keeping in this?” Call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick up. Decembers Flea Market will be on December 19. For a booth of your own at the flea market contact the SLCC office at the Clubhouse; only a $5 fee gets you a spot. See you there.

We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room at SLCC at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome, and like all clubs, needed. See you there on December 7.
