Art at the Lakes Donates to AFMA Firefighters Charities

The Sun Lakes Art at the Lakes Committee has been a longtime, loyal supporter of the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority’s Firefighter Charities. They presented their “check” for this year’s proceeds of $21,850 dollars. Representing AFMA Firefighters Charities was firefighter Brandon Johnson, along with the crew of Engine 232.

Recently, fire personnel of Station 231 here in Sun Lakes received a nice donation from Unity Church of Sun Lakes. The monetary gift was a portion of the church’s February gross income. The church makes a practice of tithing (giving 10%) of its income to nonprofit organizations each month. Most are local, but some are worldwide or state organizations. Maria Blanding, the president of the board, said she was pleased to help support such an important cause. “We all want a quick response when we need the fire department,” she said. “It’s important that we give back to the people who do so much for all of us here in Sun Lakes.”
