Bishop Nevares, Coming to St. Steven’s on February 14

Eduardo Alanis Nevares, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix, will be presenting a Morning of Recollection on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, at St. Steven’s Catholic Church in Sun Lakes, Ariz.

On May 11, 2010, Nevares was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Phoenix and Titular Bishop of Natchesium by Pope Benedict XVI. Nevares is the first auxiliary bishop of the Phoenix Diocese. His episcopal motto is “Serve the Lord with gladness.”

Bishop Nevares comes from a family of six children. As his mother would drop off the four older children at school, young Eduardo and his mother would attend daily Mass together. It was seeing his mother’s love and devotion for the Eucharist that began to instill in Bishop Nevares a desire to be a priest.

Auxiliary Bishop Nevares has been assigned to multiple places throughout the United States. An excellent speaker, all will enjoy his speech and will become informed, enlightened, and inspired by his presentation. A luncheon will follow. There is no cost for this event, but there will be an opportunity for a free-will offering for those who wish to donate. Call St. Steven’s office at 480-895-9266, Ext. 0, to sign up or for more information.
