The most exciting tournament of the year is coming up in November. It’s the Bradshaw-Neu Charity Tournament held at the Cottonwood courts. The week-long tournament begins Sunday, Nov. 6, and runs through Saturday, Nov. 12. It’s open to players (whether they belong to a club or not) from Cottonwood Palo Verde, IronOaks, Sun Lakes Country Club, SunBird, and Springfield. Each competitor must be 45 or older. The entry fee is $20.

Competition is gender doubles (four males or four females per court).

Sign-ups began Sept. 20 and closed on Oct. 23 at 5 p.m.

Draws will be posted at Cottonwood Tennis Club, Sun Lakes Tennis Club, SunBird, and Springfield on Thursday, Nov. 3. Competition begins Sunday, Nov. 6.

Matches are the best of three sets. The first two sets are regular scoring. The third set will be a 10-point tiebreaker (first to 10 must win by 2). Playing levels are 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. Players ranked 4.5 may not play together.

Matches begin at 8:30 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Friday will be the semi-finals, and Saturday will be the finals. Finals on Saturday will be at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and noon. First, second, and third place awards will be presented in each category after the noon final match.

Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Neighbors Who Care and the Boys and Girls Club of Chandler. Funds are raised by entry fees and donations of sponsors, whose banners will be displayed.
