Sun Lakes 199er’s Duplicate Bridge
Karin Hansen
A bridge group just for beginners and novice players with less than 100 master points is offered every Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m. A short lesson is given, followed by supervised play using duplicate boards. Most weeks, the hands are set up to help practice the material presented in the lesson. Instructors are available to answer questions about bidding and play. The session ends by 11:00 a.m. ACBL master points can be earned by winning pairs who are registered ACBL members. Coordinator Anne Newman ([email protected]) can answer any questions about participating in the Thursday morning group. This fun and low-key atmosphere provides great learning and playing experience for all those interested in duplicate bridge. Partners are suggested but not required – newcomers are welcome! Games are held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road, unless otherwise announced.
A Non-Life Master game is also offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. along with an open game. Partners are required for these games. It is suggested that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the game and you must check in no later than 15 minutes before the start of any game in order for directors to seat you properly. During the winter months, the room may easily reach capacity.
Partnership Coordinators and Unit Information: Sun Lakes Unit 351 will always assist you if you need a partner. Contact our partnership coordinators Eileen Utter, Barbara Lubsen and Carol Warner at [email protected] and provide your information. For more information on Sun Lakes Unit 351, check online at www.unit351.com, click the “Clubs” tab; click on “Sun Lakes” tab and you will find links for all information, schedules and results. Plan to come and be part of a great organization. The Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Board representative for the Intermediate/Novice program is Karin Hansen. General questions about the program may be directed to her at [email protected].
Monthly Hint: Every player at the table must keep a personal score sheet during the game in case a director needs to check on a score.
