Chandler School District’s Dr. Sarah Galetti, Director of Federal Programs and State Initiatives, and Valerie Gyory, Academic Families in Transition Advocate, Federal Programs, met with the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club at their January meeting. They discussed a variety of serious subjects that Chandler students and families in transition face, from homelessness to domestic violence, teen parents, and refugees from Afghanistan to Ukraine. While federal and state grants provide a majority of their funding, it’s the “little things” that fall between the cracks—everything from toiletries to sneakers, food boxes to registration, to scholastic and scholastic clubs, as well as a hundred other things.
