Every first Tuesday of the month Cheers Singles meet at the Oakwood Country Club (usually in the library) to discuss a book, mostly novels that are selected by members recommendations from the previous month. Currently there are 15 members in the group. Discussed this month was The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grisson. Judy Cody leads this fun group; if any Cheers members are interested in joining please call her at 895-8608. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m.; members often they have dinner in the Clubhouse before the meeting so plan accordingly and enjoy!

Small groups similar to the book club are available to all members. We have a Bridge group that meets every first and third Wednesday in the evening, a Hand and Foot group once a month, wine tasting monthly, and of course our weekly social in the lounge at the Oakwood Country Club. So at 4:00 p.m. every Thursday we’ll be there. Come and meet a new friend; you’ll enjoy this fun and active group of singles. All single residents of Sun Lakes, Springfield and SunBird are eligible to join. Come and visit! Large group events are also held throughout the year. Even summer heat doesn’t bother us; well, some of us find cooler places to visit but we continue our events all year long. Fine dining is another monthly event that has become very popular so sign up on the bulletin board at the social for this great evening of dining.
